YUNIS is an Egyptian artist who combines Afro-Arab rhythms, trance structures and electronic maximalism in the project Ninety Nine Eyes. The album and its accompanying live performance take the form of a sonic pilgrimage, built from layered sound design and live improvisation. The structure of the performance draws on the Sufi hadra, while its musical sources include zar rituals, takhmira and traditions of ecstatic ceremony.

The project explores sonic memory, ritual futurism and the possibility of treating music as spiritual architecture rather than merely as entertainment. Elements of musical heritage are not reconstructed, but transformed through contemporary experimental practices. YUNIS has presented his work at Le Guess Who? and Nyege Nyege, as well as at Centre Pompidou, Cave12 and Positive Futures Festival.
