Iggor Cavalera is a Brazilian drummer, music producer and experimental artist, and a co-founder of Sepultura, which he formed with his brother Max Cavalera. Since the 1980s, he has developed a distinctive and exceptionally intense drumming style. Of particular importance was his introduction of tribal rhythmic elements on the album Chaos A.D., which expanded the language of thrash metal and became one of the defining features of the band’s sound.

Although drums remain at the core of his practice, Cavalera has also experimented with drum machines, synthesisers and electronic music from the beginning of his career. He co-founded the DJ duo Mixhell with Laima Leyton and plays in Cavalera Conspiracy, Soulwax and Petbrick — a project combining noise, heavy electronics and powerful drumming. In his solo work, he uses analogue modular systems, drum pads and visuals, creating music that moves between rhythmic intensity, experimental drone and atmospheric electronics. His most recent releases include Aural Manifestations and Alucinações Sônicas.
