EXTENSA is an instrumental trio from eastern Wielkopolska that describes its musical language as psycho heavy noise — heavy, hypnotic music driven by repetition. The band builds dense, compact forms in which psychedelia, trance noise and post-metal tension combine with krautrock pulsation and the powerful groove of the rhythm section. Following their debut album Extensa in 2023 and Echomora, released in 2025, the trio continues to develop an increasingly intense and massive sound that remains raw, cinematic and immersive.

At Avant Art Festival, the band will be joined by Mikołaj Trzaska — a saxophonist, bass clarinettist and composer, and one of the most important figures on the Polish improvised music scene. A co-founder of the legendary band Miłość and leader of Łoskot, he emerged from the yass movement, which challenged the established language of Polish jazz at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. Trzaska has developed a distinctive practice at the intersection of free improvisation, experimental music and film composition.

Their joint concert will combine Extensa’s heavy, repetitive structures with Trzaska’s raw and expressive language of improvisation. It will bring together two different kinds of stage experience, connected by a similar approach to sound — as physical matter, open to tension, risk and unpredictable development.
