The City the Festival Grew From

Wrocław is the city where Avant Art Festival began and where its character took shape. From the outset, the programme has been built around unexpected juxtapositions, connections between different disciplines, and a determination to move beyond any single genre, scene or institution.

In 2026, the Wrocław edition will run for eleven days across nine venues. There will be no single festival centre. Concerts, exhibitions, films and performance works will take place in galleries, cinemas, clubs and independent spaces, each contributing its own history, scale and character to the programme.

The music programme brings together artists with radically different approaches to sound: the hypnotic improvisation of The Necks, the physical intensity of Senyawa, aya’s electronic deconstructions and EarthBall’s collective psychedelia; the industrial and no wave language of Everything Is Psychedelic, Ak’Chamel’s ritual theatre and ZU’s uncompromising energy. Iggor Cavalera will appear as an artist who has consistently developed his own language far beyond the history of metal.

The programme is complemented by projects created at the intersection of different disciplines and traditions: the research-based performance project KATÁBASIS, a meeting between Małe Instrumenty and Jean-Hervé Peron centred on the repertoire of FAUST, an exhibition by Manuela Morales Délano, and Avant Art Film.

The Wrocław edition spreads across the city, connecting places that usually operate within entirely different contexts. It is precisely in the space between them that this year’s programme takes shape.
