Concentration, Cinema and the Physicality of Sound

The Lublin edition of Avant Art Festival will take place from 21 to 25 September. The programme is more concentrated than the Wrocław or Warsaw editions, but equally diverse — ranging from the history of the independent scene and artistic counterculture to projects in which the body, the instrument and the surrounding space become equally important elements of working with sound.

On 24 September, Centrum Kultury will bring together the electronic and dub-infused spaces of Hatti Vatti, the trance-like psychedelia of ARRM, and the sound practice of Simon Grab, built around noise, feedback and deep, pulsating bass frequencies.

The following day, the festival will move to the Muzeum Osiedli Mieszkaniowych. Ryosuke Kiyasu’s solo performance, Tymek Papior’s electroacoustic practice and the sound of Miłosz Kędra’s portative organ present three entirely different approaches to working with an instrument, its physicality and its possibilities.

The Lublin edition closes the festival’s September programme, but it does not function as an epilogue. It is a distinct, focused programme that develops the ideas of Avant Art through encounters with different places, artists and audiences.
