EarthBall are a Canadian psychedelic free improvisation ensemble associated with the music scenes of Nanaimo and Vancouver. Their music is created entirely spontaneously, drawing on free jazz, noise rock, post-punk, experimental composition and collective song form. Their concerts unfold like continuous compositions, moving from ecstatic repetition and vocal improvisation through dense ensemble playing to extended drones and song structures emerging in real time.

Since forming in 2019, EarthBall have toured extensively across Canada and Europe. The band have performed at Le Guess Who? and Suoni Per Il Popolo, as well as at Café OTO, BLÅ Oslo, AB Club and Cave12. Their albums are released by the British label Upset! The Rhythm. Released in 2025, Outside Over There was ranked second in “The Quietus” list of the best albums of the year, while in 2026 the group appeared on the cover of “The Wire”. EarthBall have also collaborated with artists including Chris Corsano, Steve Beresford, Stewart Lee, Alexander Moskos and Ora Cogan.

Both on stage and in the studio, the musicians approach improvisation as a form of collective composition — based on mutual listening, risk and the unique conditions of each performance.
