panGenerator:
An artistic and design collective working in the field of new media art, founded by Piotr Barszczewski, Krzysztof Cybulski, Krzysztof Goliński and Jakub Koźniewski in 2010. Over the years, the group has created a number of unique projects exploring new technologies as a medium for creating new ways of expression and communication with the audience. The collective’s works are characterised by combining the world of bits with the world of atoms – the physical and tangible with the ephemeral and digital. In opposition to mainstream contemporary art, which is often hermetic and alienating to audiences, panGenerator creates objects and artistic situations with a ‘user-friendly interface’ – engaging and open to interactive dialogue with the audience.
The group operates at the intersection of art, design and engineering, creating both large interactive installations for cultural institutions and festivals, as well as experimental musical interfaces and purely speculative and critical artistic objects. In addition to their creative activities, panGenerator members have been involved in a number of educational initiatives related to the creative use of new media since the very beginning, conducting workshops both in Poland and around the world. Since 2017, they have also been co-creating the country’s first postgraduate Creative Coding studies at the School of Form.
PanGenerator has presented its work in numerous galleries, festivals and exhibitions around the world, including Ars Electronica, SXSW, ZKM Karlsruhe, Dutch Design Week, Milan Design Week, Athens Digital Art Festival, LPM, Warsaw Autumn, WRO Art Biennale, Łódź Design, Pause Fest Melbourne, Node Festival, Design Museum Holon, PrintScreen Festival, nuit numérique @ Saint-Ex Reims, Przemiany Festival, European Culture Congress, Art+bits festival, patch lab, Kordegarda Gallery, Gallery 2.0, Kultura 2.0, KODY festival…
Among his numerous awards, it is worth mentioning: Prix Ars Honorary Mention at Ars Electronica, Lumen prize shortlist, Cannes Golden Lion and Polityka’s Passports in Digital Culture.
