Nailbreaker (UK)

Nailbreaker is the solo project of George Hammond, an artist who turned his bedroom in provincial Rushden into the epicenter of brutal, emotional (anti)rap. His work fuses punk, noise, power electronics, and DIY rap – spiritually close to Death Grips, but grounded in the specific realities of the English countryside, unemployment, and self-reliant survival.
Nailbreaker’s style relies on minimal gear, raw intuition, and distortion. His tracks – often produced on a phone – are loud, dirty, and heavily saturated, while his live performances resemble exorcisms more than traditional stage shows. Hammond puts it plainly: “I don’t play for people – I play to cleanse myself.” His sets are acts of both personal and collective catharsis, where the performer confronts his demons, emotion, anger, and helplessness.
After two EPs and recognition from BBC Introducing and Anthony Fantano, Nailbreaker returns in 2025 with his debut full-length album Robert Knight Wine Cellar.
In recent years, he has shared stages and festival slots with artists such as Show Me The Body, Ryosuke Kiyasu, Meryl Streek, and Death Goals. His appearance at Avant Art Festival 2025 will mark his first performance in Poland, as part of a tour organized in collaboration with the Jvdasz Iskariota collective.
