Francesca Ter-Berg, Coby Sey, Ursula Russell, Tara Cunningham (UK)

Project consisting of Francesca Ter-Berg, Coby Sey, Ursula Russell and Tara Cunningham – some of the UK’s most eclectic and celebrated artists, whose work spans jazz, improvisation, klezmer, electronic music and punk rock. The four combine their influences and fragments of original compositions into one sonic sphere, exchanging, improvising, listening and responding in the present moment.
Francesca Ter-Berg is a cellist, composer and producer from Hackney, now based in Margate. Known for her unique musical style inspired by traditional Yiddish music, improvisation, jazz, dub and ethereal string sounds. She is one half of the multi-award nominated string duo Fran & Flora, whose releases “In Eynem” and “Precious Collection” have received critical acclaim.
Coby Sey is a producer, vocalist and DJ who, after years spent in the DIY artist community in south-east London, built his reputation as a performer offering a “changing, disorienting vision of club music.” He has collaborated with artists such as Mica Levi, Tirzah, Babyfather (Dean Blunt) and Klein. His debut album “Conduit” (AD93) is a “surreal, fully-developed evolution of Tricky’s damaged early trip-hop prototype, fused with serrated noise and dissociated hard techno.” The artist has previously performed at Avant Art Festival.
Ursula Russell performs as Ursa Major Moving Group – multi-instrumentalist, composer and writer. Her debut album is an “intense and dynamic musical journal of a process of individuation, wherein songs are offered as myths for a new world.” As the artist explains: “I’ve been learning about the importance of making yourself as sensitive as you can so that you know what you truly desire, away from the forces of algorithms and societal conventions.”
Tara Cunningham is a guitarist and composer from the UK, whose work focuses largely on improvisation. Current live + recorded projects include: 90s acid-jazz outfit Red Snapper, post-rock four piece Modern Nature, and experimental improvised duo with bassist Caius Williams. She has also worked with Seb Rochford, Liam Noble, Laura Jurd, Claire Rousay, Steve Noble, and Jack Cooper, amongst many others.
Her work as a composer for film includes ‘a loop, of exchanges, until we vomit’ with art film maker Luca Baioni, ’Strange Like It Sounds’ in collaboration with Switzerland-based Nick Walter, as well as Pascal Bergamin’s 2024 feature film ‘Portraits of Dangerous Women’
Their collaboration represents a unique combination of different musical worlds, where each artist brings their own experience and perspective to a shared, improvised sonic dialogue
