Beluga Ryba (PL)

Trio consisting of Jędrek Dudek (vocals, samples, guitar), Maciek Sondij (bass, vocals) and Jan Pieniążek (drums, micro korg, vocals). Behind the beluga ryba alias lies the solo production project of Jędrek Dudek – musician and songwriter known mainly as producer and vocalist of the duo beluga stone and vocalist of the ten-member P.Unity.
The project arose from the need to create something entirely his own, going beyond the framework of the artist’s previous formations. As Dudek explains: “P.unity is actually my first band and over the years it developed its specific style, and from songs that deviated from that style, the beluga stone project was born. It was similar with my solo material. From what didn’t fit beluga stone, I created beluga ryba.”
Jędrzej Dudek has been active on the Polish music scene for years, as a DJ presenting sets focused on psychedelic soul, “ambient selections poured around, dancehall massages” (Spokój festival x Panda Dread Soundsystem, Flauta) or “trap-bass melànges” (afters after Hewra or Ćpajstajl). He co-organized all editions of the beach festival FLAUTA and since 2022, together with Igor Nikiforow, he co-creates the suburban Warsaw studio and creators’ club Dwa Domy. He is also involved in the new version of the Polish Funk project, Soul Service collective.
The project’s first single was “RANGER,” announcing the album “DZIADZIA.” The track is characterized by western atmospheres and unusual themes – as the author reveals: “It came out as a reflection that cowboys have a lot in common with Polish nationalists.”
The musician emphasizes the cohesive character of the upcoming album: “for me this album is very cohesive and different things happen there stylistically.”
