aya is an artist from the Pennine region whose work focuses on the ways in which experience and memory transform the body. She combines the sprawling traditions of soundsystem culture, decentralised internet scenes and post-hardcore expression, creating raw, ambiguous forms built from intersecting genres.

Her music has been released by Hyperdub, YCO, Tri Angle, Wisdom Teeth and Astral Plane Recordings. In 2021, she released her debut album im hole, which was awarded Best New Music by Pitchfork. In March 2025, Hyperdub released her second album, hexed!, accompanied by intense live performances and DJ sets. Together with BFTT, she runs the YCO label and has also composed music for projects by the BBC, Manchester International Festival, NTS and CTM Festival.
