Sepersa & Mateusz Król (IR, PL)
Inspired by traditional Iranian Daf playing ( یزاون†فد†), known for its captivating call-and-response rhythms between multiple players, this project explores the sonic fusion of machine and human interactions. With the exponentially increased usage of technology in our daily lives, the way we communicate and experience life is far different than our ancestors. therefore this project aims to portray the post-modern human.
Random patterns are generated through the use of drum-shaped instruments triggered by mechanical modules. These evolving rhythms, transition into noise and back into rhythmic beats, accompanying the main arrangement. Moreover, these rhythmic patterns are translated into visuals dynamically projected onto the instruments and the performers in real time. This fusion of music and technology delivers an immersive experience of the conversion between the performer and the machine.
