MOPCUT (USA/FRA/AUT)
A trio consisting of Audrey Chen (vocals and analog synthesizers), Julien Desprez (electric guitar), and Lukas König (drums and synthesizers). The band was formed in 2018, debuting at donaufestival in Krems, Austria.
MOPCUT’s music oscillates between brutal, chaotic noise and moments of minimalist introspection, creating contrasting, dynamic compositions. Electronic battles, improvised sounds, and intense vocals create a unique, powerful atmosphere that draws the listener into an immersive sonic experience.
MOPCUT has gained recognition by performing at many prestigious festivals, and their discography includes albums such as “JITTER” (2021) and “Accelerated Frames of Reference” (2018). Their performances are known for their energy and ability to create intense, immersive sonic experiences.
The media describe MOPCUT as a band creating “a series of evocative electro-soundscapes, the noises of a dense cosmopolis, as chilling as they are alluring” (NYC Jazz Records). Their work is “repulsively fascinating and equally exhausting” (Opal Tapes).
As Audrey Chen says: “We want to create a construct of sounds and noises that completely envelops the listeners and affects the ears as intensely as the inner eye.”
