Malediwy (PL)
Malediwy (Marek Pospieszalski and Qba Janicki) present their new album titled “Eden”. The duo of esteemed improvisers, much like on “Dolce Tsunami” (Coastline Northern Cuts, 2020), continues to delve into amplifying acoustic instruments, expanding their possibilities infinitely by adding a range of analog electronic peripherals to their instrumentation. Janicki and Pospieszalski treat their instruments as elaborate, highly reactive controllers of analog sound modules, drawing from a wide range of IDM, experimental electronic music, and drone inspirations, without losing the spirit of free improvisation. The lyrical and vocal layer on “Eden” is entrusted to notable guests, among whom are New York rapper Nappy Nina (Lucid Haus), noise music producer and poet MA (Morphine Records), and Polish alternative pop star, Błażej Król. The well-known duo of saxophone and prepared drums in the world of improvised music takes on a completely new resonance, exploring distant genre territories.
