Mabe Fratti (GT/MX)
A solo artist from Guatemala, currently residing in Mexico. She debuted in 2015 as a classically trained cellist, quickly gaining recognition for her unique style that combines elements of experimental electronics, pop, and jazz. Her music draws inspiration from various sources, including the works of György Ligeti and Jacqueline du Pré.
Her discography includes albums such as “Pies Sobre La Tierra” (2019), “Será que ahora podremos entendernos” (2021), “Se Ve Desde Aquí” (2022), and the upcoming “Sentir Que No Sabes” (2024). In 2023, she also released the album “Vidrio” in the Titanic duo with Héctor Tosta and “A Time to Love, a Time to Die” with the Amor Muere collective.
Her performances at festivals such as Unsound, NRMAL, and Mutek have received enthusiastic reviews. Pitchfork described her work as “cathartic and powerful experimentation,” while The Guardian called the album “Se Ve Desde Aquí” a “breakthrough.” The artist herself says, “Doubt is exciting,” reflecting her approach to music and the creative process.
