Ciśnienie (PL)
The band Ciśnienie from Katowice was founded with one goal: to create the most shocking and intense musical climaxes. The band, founded in the mid-2010s by Maciek Klich (violin), Kacper Kowalczuk (drums), Michał Paduch (bass), and Michał Zdrzałek (keyboards, French horn), now operates as a quintet with Łukasz Kozera (keyboards) and Monia Muc (saxophone).
Stylistically, Ciśnienie combines post-rock, orchestral music, and trance jazz, drawing inspiration from bands such as Swans, Fire! Orchestra, Godspeed You Black Emperor, as well as the works of H. M. Górecki and Arvo Pärt. The saxophone, violin, and keyboards blend with heavily distorted bass and frenetic drumming to create uniquely colorful and diverse sounds – from improvised, psychedelic ambient, through classical harmonies, to rhythm-driven walls of sound.
The band is currently promoting their latest album “Zwierzakom,” released in December 2023. To date, they have played over 100 concerts in Poland and abroad, including prestigious festivals such as ESNS Eurosonic Noorderslag (NL), Enjoy Jazz Festival (DE), Garana Jazz Fest (RO), Katowice JazzArt Festival (PL), and Soundrive Festival (PL).
The band’s discography includes “JazzArt Underground” (2019), “Brass Album” (2020) recorded with the KWK Wujek Mining Orchestra, “Radio Edit” (2021), and “Zwierzakom” (2023). All of Ciśnienie’s releases are live recordings, emphasizing their pursuit of creating intense live experiences.
