Orcutt is best known for his abrasive guitar playing in Miami’s post-hardcore / free jazz group Harry Pussy as well as his solo and group improvisations of the last decade. Regardless of whether Bill is playing spacious free-rock impro, cluster-busting electric guitar strings or delta solo blues inspired compositions utilising an acoustic guitar with only four strings, the melodies are unpredictable and aimed at multiple reorientation. Orcutt’s primitive guitar is characterized by blending avant-garde and neo-classical compositions with traditional Great American Songbook and jazz repertoire.
