What You Could Not Visualise with a discussion with Marco Porsia (+Koray Kantarcıoğlu – Loopworks 2)
What You Could Not Visualise dir. by Marco Porsia, Canada 2022 (1 hour 33 minutes)
This is an intimate portrait of the legendary 4AD (British music label) band Rema Rema. Rema Rema were part of the initial wave of post punk bands that formed around 1978-1980 after the demise of punk. No live footage of the band exists and only a handful of photos survive, creating a myth around the band that still exists today. Their innovative sound, has put them on a par with bands such as Joy Division, The Fall, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Throbbing Gristle and many more. Rema Rema – Mark Cox, Mick Allen, Gary Asquith, Marco Pirroni and Dorothy “Max” Prior only played 11 shows in London in 1979. They parted ways in 1980 before releasing their first and only album, Wheel in the Roses. After more than 40 years, Rema Rema is being resurrected with the release of this very album and the discovery of old rehearsal tapes and live recordings.
The screening will be followed by a meeting with the film’s director, Marco Porsia.
