Takkak Takkak, a new and dynamic duo that combines the unique talents of Japanese producer Shigeru Ishihara (also known as Dj Scotch Egg, waqwaq kingdom, scotch rolex) and Indonesian multi-instrumentalist J. Mo’ong Santoso Pribadi (one half of Raja Kirik). Together they create a joyful yet challenging fusion of sounds, drawing on both musicians’ love of polyrhythm and explosive dance music. The name Takkak Takkak pays homage to the onomatopoeia in percussion and vocal percussion cultures found in Asian traditions, reflecting their wild energy and trance-like beats. By playfully subverting traditional and contemporary instruments, Takkak Takkak creates passport-free music that is both familiar and mysterious. With Shigeru’s diverse musical experience and Mo’ong’s innovative approach to DIY instruments, their performance promises to be an unforgettable and boundary-breaking experience. Avant Art audiences were able to experience Takkak Takkak in an as yet unofficial form during the 2022 concerts at Kantine Am Berghain.
