Meet Me in the Bathroom
Meet Me in the Bathroom by Will Lovelace Dylan Southern, UK, 2022 (1
hour 45 minutes)
The Strokes, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem or TV on the Radio were once bands associated with the club scene, now exclusively with stars playing gigs in huge stadiums. At the end of the 1990s, these bands began their careers when it seemed that the fashion for rock’n’roll was slowly dying out. Young artists were looking anew for a sound in guitar music from the underground revolution and New York bohemia. A new era of rock had begun, which brought crowds of alternative young people together under club stages. The documentary has been edited from archive footage that has never been shown anywhere before. The film is an adaptation of Lizzy Goodman’s excellent book Meet Me in the Bathroom, the title of which was borrowed from one of The Strokes’ songs.
