Guro Moe & Mette Rasmussen (NOR)
Guro Moe – composer, bassist and vocalist Guro Skumsnes Moe is one of Norway’s most active artists and composers – her credits include more than 30 albums, soundtracks for many Plexus Polaires Compagnie productions, for which she won the 2022 Best Audiovisual Project Award for her piece Moby Dick, music for Amat Escalantes’ award-winning film The Untamed, for which she was also nominated for an Ariel Price award in Mexico, music for Kerry Mondragons’ film Wetiko, and composing for her chamber orchestra The Touchables and the internationally touring rock band MoE. Her cross-cutting concert installation “Resonance Silence” led her to a residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts in California and was shown to great critical acclaim at the Borealis experimental music festival in Norway in 2022.
As part of the Avant Art Festival, she will play with Mette Rasmussen, a versatile artist who defies classification and confinement to a single box. As a born improviser, she is a frequent guest on musical stages around the world. She operates with ease in noise, rock, modern jazz and fuzzy genres. She has played with Zeena Parkins, Joëlle Léandre, Sofia Jernberg, Richard Dawson, Yoshimio, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Anthony Braxton and our festival favorite, Keiji Haino.
The concert, carried out in cooperation with the In Situ Foundation for Contemporary Art as part of the project “HILO – Norwegian-Polish Platform for new Music Development”, was co-financed by the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (EEA) 2014-2021 and the state budget.
