Japanese drummer and percussionist active since the late ’70s. Punk rock’s deconstruction of the rock paradigm pushed her towards New York’s avantgarde: with Arto Lindsay and Tim Wright she created DNA. A formal, sonic radicalism accompanies her since then, through her experiments with luminaries such as Fred Frith, John Zorn, Evan Parker or Maja S.K. Ratkje. She describes her work as personal noise, a soundtrack for movies that were never shot.
