2007, somewhere and on tour, Paed puts an old cassette tape into the car radio. Out of the speakers blasts Boop, the last release of legendary Bern‐based guerilla‐ punk‐jazz group So Nicht that disbanded in 1997. Daniel Linder Lieder on vocals in
fictional language, known by his contribution to the avant‐core heroes of Alboth!; Fran Lorkovic, crossover‐drummer formerly of Erotic Jesus and Undergod from Basel; Paed Conca, bassist and bernese impro‐performer with credible Hardcore‐past with
Lougaroo. The general affirmative banging of heads is being forwarded by Paed to his former bandmates. Memories get woken up. There is an agreement that there is more to come. After this, Lieder sends first sketches of new material around. Lorkovic adds drum‐ parts, Conca adds bass‐tracks. The band continues to work for the following two years.
All in all twelve songs get finished, with lyrics in german, french and mostly bernese (swiss- german), written by Michael Stauffer, Agota Kristof and Lieder himself.

Syg Baas have a style which doesn’t has to be defined. The lyrics in swiss‐ german dialect make for a unique expression. The music gets enrichened by the broad various music‐biographical influences of the band members: improvisational, jazz, trip-
hop, avantgarde, ambient and folkoristic influences come to mind. Conca plays clarinet aside of bass, Lorkovic plays various classical percussion aside of drumset and Lieders multilayered vocal arrangements. The album Himmu Stärne was finished in 2010, mixed by Bob Drake in Caudeval, France and mastered by Christian Mevs in Berlin.
